01The brief
A cottage with a backyard that never got used and living areas that felt closed in. They wanted somewhere to actually enjoy the Newcastle summer instead of hiding inside.
02What we did
We pushed the back of the house out and opened it onto a covered timber deck and alfresco. Big sliding doors, so inside and outside become one space when the weather is good.
03The result
A covered outdoor room that gets used every weekend through summer. Indoor-outdoor living, and a backyard that finally earns its keep.
