The family loved the street and the school but had run clean out of room downstairs. Moving meant stamp duty and starting again somewhere they did not want to be. They wanted three more bedrooms and a bathroom, and they wanted to keep the backyard.
We went up, not out. A full second-storey addition with three bedrooms and a family bathroom, tied into the existing roofline so it reads like it was always there. We kept the downstairs liveable the whole way through, so the family stayed put while we built.
Six weeks on site and they had a home that fit them again, without leaving the street they love. The downstairs footprint and the yard ended up exactly as they started.
