01The brief
A bigger Charlestown block with room out the back going to waste. The owners wanted either rental income or space for family, without crowding the main house.
02What we did
We built a self-contained two-bedroom flat in the backyard. Its own kitchen, bathroom, living and entrance, sited so it sits well on the block and keeps everyone their privacy.
03The result
A proper second home out the back that now rents out and pays down the mortgage. The numbers stacked up faster than they expected.
